COVID RELIEF VISA CARDS……. Does this sound like a scam to you?

Frank (not his real name) opened up his mailbox to find something from MONEY NETWORK CARDHOLDER SERVICES, a company he had never heard of. When he opened the envelope, he found a VISA card, which was odd because Frank hadn’t applied for a VISA card.

The sticker on the card said that Frank had to call a 1-800 number in order to activate his card. So, he called and was asked for the last 6 digits of his social security number.

Should he tell them?

Yes, he should.

I know this sounds like a scam, but it’s not. You’ve probably heard that the government has passed a second round of COVID relief. Which means that many people are going to get $600. Some will have the $600 directly deposited into their bank accounts.  And some will get a paper check. And others will receive the $600 in the form of a VISA debit prepaid card.
