Myth Rehab and Medicare

Huge Myth About Rehab Services Paid by Medicare

Have you heard that Medicare must cut you off of rehab services if you are not showing improvement? A nursing home or hospital facility may have told you this. But it’s not true! There is no “improvement standard.” The rehab services need only maintain your current condition or slow further deterioration. Many medical providers are still unaware of this standard that has been in place since 2013 as a result of a lawsuit against the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Here is a link to a toolkit that thoroughly explains this issue and gives you the tools you need to make sure that your rehab services are not improperly terminated. It also gives guidance on how to appeal an improper termination of treatment. You may very well not need a lawyer to assist you by following the guidance in this toolkit.
